Pie has been called the perfect food. The combination of crispy crust with any of these eight stuffings in between makes for a scrumptious meal or dessert.
Chicken and Vegetables
Cube leftover chicken and toss with diced carrots, celery, onions, and other vegetables. Blend in a prepared white sauce and season to taste. Cover with a second crust and bake.
Blend pitted sour cherries with 1 tablespoon (15 mL) sugar and a sprinkling of tapioca powder, then top it with a second crust and bake.Sour cherries are one of my most eagerly awaited fresh fruits of the summer. Thin-skinned and tart, they aren’t really best for eating out of hand. We who love them use them as creatively and quickly as we can, putting their bright, acidic hit to good use in jams, cakes, pies, cocktails, and even in the occasional savory dish.
Ham and Cheese
Make a batter of 3 eggs and 1 cup (250 ml) light cream, and blend together with ham and cheddar, Swiss, or any combination of cheeses.

Cover with a second crust, and bake.The iconic strawberry and rhubarb combination is, of course, the strawberry rhubarb pie. Today just happens to be Strawberry Rhubarb Pie day, so it’s the perfect time to celebrate everything that is strawberry and rhubarb, starting with pie! Don’t forget, however, that pie is really just the beginning; there are so many ways to combine strawberry and rhubarb.
Turkey and Stuffing
Cube or coarsely chop cooked turkey, then mix together with leftover stuffing and gravy. Cover with a second crust and bake.

Sweet Green Tomato
Slice 6 to 8 green tomatoes, drizzle with lemon juice, ground cinnamon, sugar, 1 tablespoon (15 mL) cornstarch, and butter. Cover with a second crust and bake.
